Speaking

Keynotes that help people see independent hospitality differently.

Independent hospitality is often talked about from the outside.

Cassie Davison speaks from inside it.

Her keynote is rooted in more than 30 years in hospitality, 25 years as an independent owner-operator and the ideas explored in Stand Out Hospitality. It is a practical, thought-provoking and deeply human talk about what independent hospitality really is, why it still matters, and what it takes to build businesses that people choose to come back to.

This is not a generic motivational keynote.

It is a conversation about operator reality, commercial clarity and the role belonging plays in creating remarkable businesses.

The keynote

Cassie's keynote is anchored in one central belief:

Belonging is independent hospitality's competitive advantage.

Independent hospitality is not just about food, drink, beds or service. It is about the feeling of a place, the personality behind it, the standards that hold it together, the team that brings it to life and the customers who come back because something about it feels like theirs.

That matters now because operators are under pressure, customers are changing, teams are stretched and the industry is being pulled towards faster, noisier and more automated ways of working.

Cassie's message is clear: independent hospitality does not need to become less human to survive. It needs to become more intentional about the humanity that makes it matter.

What People Leave With

For independent operators, the keynote is a chance to step back from the pressure of running the business.

People leave feeling seen, understood and reminded why they chose hospitality in the first place.

For suppliers, funders and organisations working with hospitality, it offers something equally valuable: a deeper understanding of how independent operators think, decide, prioritise and respond.

Every audience leaves with a clearer understanding that independent hospitality is not simply a commercial sector. It is built by people whose identity, standards and relationships shape every decision they make.

Every Keynote Is Different

No two audiences are the same.

Every keynote is shaped around the room, the event and the objectives of the organiser.

The central themes remain consistent, but the stories, examples and emphasis are adapted to suit operators, suppliers, leadership teams, business associations, conferences, trade shows, funders, local authorities and wider business audiences.

Speaking Topics

Although every keynote is tailored, Cassie regularly speaks about:

  • Why independent hospitality still matters

  • What operators are really carrying

  • Belonging as a commercial advantage

  • Standards as an expression of care

  • Story, identity and customer loyalty

  • Founder-led businesses and why they think differently

  • Building businesses people want to belong to

  • Understanding independent hospitality from the inside
